Tommy Hilfiger returned to the Plaza hotel for a New York fashion show that folded the label’s sportswear codes into collegiate styling. The venue carried personal weight: Hilfiger lived there with his family for a decade, making the presentation a homecoming as much as a runway event.

The collection centred on the visual language of sport, with rugby shirts, oversized jerseys, team stripes and letterman jackets. A bright, boxy rugby shirt was styled over a pleated skirt, while a quarter-zip appeared beneath a blazer. Mustard and ketchup tones cut through Oxford blue and chino beige.

Hilfiger described preppy fashion as “back in the zeitgeist”, framing the collection around a renewed interest in collegiate codes. The show also revisited the designer’s history through a silk dress printed with the Times Square billboard that helped launch his career 41 years ago.

New York Knicks players Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns and Miles McBride attended the show. Travis Kelce, who is collaborating with Hilfiger on an upcoming collection and had been rumoured to attend, was absent; no reason was reported.
