Texas’s defence produced the first touchdown of its season against Texas State, giving the Longhorns a 28–0 lead in the second quarter.
According to Yahoo Sports, Texas State running back Taji Atkins was carrying the ball up the middle when Texas defender Rasheem Biles forced a fumble. Graceson Littleton recovered the loose ball and returned it 59 yards for a touchdown.
The play came just over six minutes into the second quarter, during Will Muschamp’s return for a second stint as Texas defensive coordinator.
Texas State responded with a touchdown drive on its next possession, reducing the deficit to 28–7 with about four minutes remaining before half-time.
