Texas and Tennessee open SEC campaigns in ranked Knoxville clash

No. 1 Texas visits No. 14 Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on Saturday for both teams’ SEC opener. Kick-off is scheduled for noon ET, according to CBS Sports.
The preview reports that both teams are 3-0. Texas is averaging 37.7 points per game, while Tennessee is producing 510 yards per game. Texas running back Hollywood Smothers was upgraded from questionable to probable on Friday evening, the report says.
CBS Sports lists Texas as a 5.5-point favourite and the total at 54.5 points. SportsLine’s model projects 52 combined points and favours the under in 54 per cent of its simulations.
The model estimates Texas quarterback Arch Manning will throw for 257 yards and 1.7 touchdowns, with Raleek Brown projected for 71 rushing yards. Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon is projected for 245 passing yards and 1.4 touchdowns, while DeSean Bishop is forecast to run for 83 yards.
The programmes have not met in a regular-season game, according to the preview. Their last bowl meeting was on 1 January 1969.
