Texas A&M projected to secure top 2027 recruits as recruiting class solidifies
Recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong predicts commitments from cornerback Joshua Dobson and offensive lineman Albert Simien, bolstering a class that now includes 20 pledges.

Texas A&M University remains the frontrunner to secure the commitments of two prominent 2027 five-star recruits, cornerback Joshua Dobson and offensive lineman Albert Simien, following their recent official visits to College Station. The prediction comes as the Aggies, under the direction of head coach Mike Elko, navigate a highly competitive recruiting environment that includes rival programmes vying for elite talent.
Recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong has publicly predicted that Dobson will commit to the Aggies, despite the prospect’s intention to complete official visits at Michigan and South Carolina. Dobson recently indicated that Texas A&M sits at the top of his list, although he has not ruled out further travel. Wiltfong suggests that Dobson’s upcoming visits may be his final stops before making a decision, reinforcing the view that the Aggies are in a prime position to secure his signature.
The recruitment landscape is further complicated by the presence of fellow five-star cornerback John Meredith, who is ranked as the No. 1 prospect at his position, while Dobson holds the No. 2 ranking. Wiltfong notes that Texas A&M is likely to secure only one of the two blue-chip cornerbacks, with Dobson being the preferred target. Meredith, who visited College Station the weekend prior to Dobson, is currently viewed as the leader by the University of Texas following a visit widely considered successful by observers.
Simultaneously, the Aggies are expected to land offensive lineman Albert Simien. Wiltfong has maintained his prediction that Simien will join the programme, even as the prospect prepares for an official visit to Notre Dame on June 19. The confidence in Simien’s commitment adds depth to a class that is already generating significant national attention for its high concentration of elite talent.
Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class currently holds 20 commitments, a tally bolstered by the addition of five-star kicker Andres von der Meden, who announced his pledge on Monday afternoon. With Dobson and Simien projected to join the fold in the coming weeks, the university is expected to retain the No. 1 ranking in the national recruiting class standings by the end of the year. Wiltfong has also issued additional predictions for other uncommitted five-star recruits, including wide receivers Monshun Sales and Xavier Sabb, running back David Gabriel Georges, and edge rusher Abraham Sesay.
