The Nutriment Company continues its acquisition spree with purchase of raw food specialist

The Nutriment Company (TNC), a Swedish pet food group backed by Nordic private-equity firm Axcel, has acquired Yorkshire Raw Feeds, a UK-based supplier of raw pet food chubs and private-label manufacturing services. The transaction was announced on 1 June, though financial terms were not disclosed. TNC stated the acquisition strengthens its business with specialist retailers and expands its footprint in the affordable raw segment.

Anders Kristiansen, chief executive of TNC, described the affordable raw segment as one of the fastest-growing parts of the market. He said the deal further strengthens the company’s position in that space, citing Yorkshire Raw Feeds’ deep roots in Yorkshire and its loyal customer base as key assets. Kristiansen noted that TNC’s support would place the business well to bring its expertise to retailers and raw feeders across the whole of the UK.

James Glover, managing director of Yorkshire Raw Feeds, highlighted the company’s more than 30 years of industry experience. He stated that being part of TNC would allow the business to serve existing customers even better while expanding its reach to raw feeders throughout the UK. The company currently supplies specialist pet retailers across Yorkshire and neighbouring areas.

The acquisition follows a series of recent purchases by TNC, which has been actively expanding its portfolio. In the UK, the group acquired The Dog’s Butcher last year, followed by purchases of Pet Treats Wholesale, Natural Instinct, and Totally Natural Pet Products in 2024. These moves are part of a broader international strategy that includes acquisitions in Germany and Poland over the past year.

TNC’s international expansion has included the acquisition of German businesses Frostfutter Perleberg and eBarf in May, as well as Graf Barf in June last year and BAF Petfood in March last year. The group also entered the Polish market in December last year with the purchase of Zoo Factory. Just Food has approached TNC for further comment on the integration plans for Yorkshire Raw Feeds.
