Suno launches v6 AI music models with licensed Warner and BMG data
The three-model release begins Suno’s reported revenue-generating partnerships with participating music labels.
Suno has launched its v6 family of AI music models, saying the systems were trained with new data that includes licensed material from Warner and BMG, as well as user data.
The release comprises v6, the company’s flagship model; v6-wild, designed for less predictable experimental results; and v6-mini, which is available to free users. Access to v6 and v6-wild requires a Pro or Premier subscription, while older Suno models are being retired.
According to reporting by Engadget, Suno says the models generate music faster and allow users to edit song sections and individual lyrics using natural language. They can also create mashups from multiple sources, produce samples with greater precision and generate music from audio, images and video.
Suno has not disclosed detailed information about the v6 training methods or datasets. The company says the new models were trained from the ground up using data not included in earlier systems, including licensed partner material.
The launch follows copyright-infringement lawsuits brought against Suno and Udio by major record labels in 2024. Warner dropped its case against Suno in 2025 in exchange for a licensing agreement.
Suno says v6 marks the formal start of its relationship with labels including Warner and BMG, with the partnerships expected to generate revenue and support products involving participating artists.
