Stewart Cink claims second consecutive PGA Tour Champions major at Regions Tradition

Stewart Cink has secured his second consecutive major victory of 2026 by winning the Regions Tradition at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama. The result extends his dominance on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, with the veteran golfer finishing at 18 under par to claim a three-shot victory over the field.

The tournament saw significant shifts in momentum during the final round, as Cink started Sunday with a three-shot advantage. Although Colin Montgomerie briefly closed the gap to two shots near the turn, Cink extended his lead to four following birdies at holes 11 and 12. However, Scott Hend mounted a significant challenge, reclaiming a two-shot lead through a run that included an eagle at the 13th and birdies at holes 10, 14, and 17.

Cink regained control of the leaderboard with a birdie at the 15th hole, reaching 18 under par. Hend, who parred the final hole, finished at 15 under, while Montgomerie completed the top three at 13 under. This third-place finish marks Montgomerie's best result in more than three years on the circuit.

Beyond the immediate tournament success, this victory brings Cink's total PGA Tour Champions wins to eight. This figure now matches his career win count on the main PGA Tour, a statistical milestone that underscores his longevity and consistency across both levels of professional golf.

The Regions Tradition stands as one of only two majors contested on the PGA Tour Champions in 2026 so far, with Cink having previously secured the other major title earlier this season. His ability to win both events highlights a period of sustained excellence for the player in the senior game.

Other notable finishes in the field included Ernie Els in a tie for eighth at 10 under, while Padraig Harrington and Steven Alker tied for 11th at 9 under. Justin Leonard also recorded a top 30 finish, placing 28th at 4 under par.
