The Western Big 6 Conference has officially announced its all-conference teams for baseball, softball, and girls soccer, highlighting the performance of student-athletes across the league. Sterling High School emerged as a key beneficiary of the recognitions, with multiple players selected in each of the three sports, reflecting a broad athletic presence within the conference structure.
In baseball, Sterling’s programme saw four players earn individual honours. Seniors Wyatt Cassens and Adrian Monarrez, alongside junior Cale Nettleton, were named to the second-team all-conference. Cassens and Monarrez play catcher and infielder respectively, while Nettleton serves as an infielder. Senior utility player Eli Penne received an honourable mention. The Sterling baseball squad concluded its season in eighth place within the conference standings, finishing with an overall record of 12-18 and a 3-11 mark in conference play.
The softball team achieved a stronger competitive finish, securing fourth place in the conference with an overall record of 17-16 and a 7-7 conference record. This performance translated into individual recognition for five players. Seniors Mya Lira and Lily Cantu were selected for the second-team all-conference, playing infielder and outfielder respectively. Senior pitcher Lily Martinez, junior outfielder Layla Wright, and junior catcher Rosie Cantu were all named to the honourable mention list.
Sterling’s girls soccer team also contributed to the school’s strong showing in the conference announcements. Senior forward Delia Block was selected for the second-team all-conference. The honourable mention list included two sophomores: forward Sofia Georgieva and keeper Caylee White. These selections underscore the depth of talent within the Sterling athletic department across both field and court sports.
The release of these teams marks the conclusion of the regular season recognitions for the Western Big 6 Conference. The honours serve to acknowledge the top-performing student-athletes based on their contributions to their respective teams’ standings and individual statistical achievements throughout the campaign.
