Hornets lottery pick posts monster double-double at NBA Summer League
Charlotte’s lottery pick records 27 points and 15 rebounds in 110-91 loss, but team secures tournament title

Charlotte Hornets lottery pick Hannes Steinbach recorded a 27-point, 15-rebound double-double in a 110-91 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at the NBA Summer League. The performance came in the final regular contest for both franchises before the commencement of pre-season training in the autumn.

Third-year forward Tidjane Salaun contributed 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting, adding three rebounds, four steals, and one turnover to the Hornets’ offensive output. Together, Steinbach and Salaun accounted for more than half of Charlotte’s total points in the defeat. Steinbach also recorded three assists and one steal in the contest.

The loss marked the third consecutive defeat for the Hornets, who had opened the tournament with a victory against the Orlando Magic. Despite the recent string of losses, the Charlotte organisation secured the 2025 NBA Summer League tournament title.

Milwaukee’s efforts were led by No. 13 overall pick Nate Ament. The Bucks did not field their No. 10 overall selection, Brayden Burries, for the match. The result leaves both teams with one remaining Summer League contest before they transition to pre-season preparations for the 2025-26 regular season.

The NBA Summer League continues to serve as a developmental platform for rookies and young players, providing critical game time ahead of the main season. Steinbach, selected 14th overall in the recent draft, and Salaun demonstrated significant individual contributions amidst the team’s final tournament obligations.
