Steelers trade Joey Porter Jr. to Cowboys for two draft picks
Pittsburgh is sending the cornerback to Dallas for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, CBS Sports reports.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, according to CBS Sports. The Ringer first reported the deal, which CBS Sports NFL writer Garrett Podell confirmed.
Porter had been inactive for Pittsburgh’s first three games of the season. Reports linked his absences to contract tensions and a back injury, though the reason he remained out after the Steelers reportedly cleared him before Week 2 is unclear.
Dallas is adding depth at cornerback as starter Cobie Durant deals with a hamstring strain. The move brings Porter, a second-round pick in 2023, to a team seeking help at the position.
Porter became a starter as a rookie and was often assigned to cover opposing teams’ leading receivers. Pittsburgh will continue with Jalen Ramsey, Jamel Dean, Asante Samuel Jr., Brandin Echols and rookie Daylen Everette among its cornerback options.
