Stanley Cup Final 2026: Hurricanes and Golden Knights set for championship series
The 2026 Stanley Cup Final begins on Tuesday, June 2, at Carolina, with the Hurricanes hosting the Vegas Golden Knights in a clash of two of the NHL’s most disciplined postseason defences.

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Vegas Golden Knights are set to compete for the National Hockey League’s ultimate prize in the 2026 Stanley Cup Final. The series commences on Tuesday, June 2, at 8 p.m. at the Carolina Hurricanes’ home arena, with broadcast rights held by ABC in the United States and streaming available via Fubo.
This championship matchup marks a significant milestone for the Hurricanes, who are making their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final since their franchise’s inaugural title victory in 2006. Having completed the first three rounds of the playoffs with a 12-1 record, Carolina has established itself as a formidable defensive unit throughout the postseason. The team has surrendered only 21 goals in total, a statistic that has been bolstered by goaltender Frederik Andersen, who has recorded a .931 save percentage and three shutouts.
Offensively, the Hurricanes have relied heavily on their second line, comprising Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven, and Jackson Blake. This trio has combined for 23 goals and 24 assists across 13 games, providing a consistent scoring threat that has alleviated pressure on established stars such as Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis.
The Vegas Golden Knights present a similarly structured challenge, particularly in their defensive organisation. Over the course of their last two rounds, which included 10 games against the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Finals, Vegas has allowed just 20 goals. Goaltender Carter Hart has been pivotal to this success, posting a .922 save percentage during the playoffs.
Vegas’s offensive output has been led by Mitch Marner, who joined the team in his first season and currently leads all playoff performers with 21 points. The Knights have also received significant contributions from other key players, including Brett Howden, who is tied for the team lead in goals with 10, and defenseman Shea Theodore, who has accumulated 11 points.
The schedule for the series includes Games 1 and 2 in Carolina, followed by Games 3 and 4 in Vegas. Should the series extend beyond four games, potential dates for Games 5 through 7 are set for June 11, 14, and 17, with venues alternating between the two cities.
