Square Enix confirms Kingdom Hearts IV for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox and PC
Square Enix has teased Kingdom Hearts IV during a Nintendo Direct presentation, confirming multi-platform support but no launch date. A compilation of the first three games arrives on Switch 2 on 8 October.

Square Enix has officially announced Kingdom Hearts IV, marking the first new mainline entry in the franchise since the release of Kingdom Hearts III in 2019. The announcement was made via a brief teaser trailer during a Nintendo Direct presentation, confirming that the title will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and PC.
Despite the confirmation of platforms, the publisher has not provided a specific release date for the new title. The announcement materials describe the launch window as currently not in sight, leaving the timeline for the game’s arrival open.
In addition to the teaser for the fourth mainline entry, Square Enix revealed that a compilation of the first three Kingdom Hearts titles will be released for the Switch 2 on 8 October. This package offers an entry point for new players, while a demo for Kingdom Hearts III is already available for those wishing to sample the earlier instalments.
The Kingdom Hearts IV reveal coincides with a broader slate of role-playing game announcements from Square Enix and Nintendo. Last week, the publisher also unveiled Persona 6 and Final Fantasy VII Revelation, signalling a significant period of activity for the RPG genre.
The Nintendo Direct presentation also highlighted other upcoming titles for the Switch 2, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which is scheduled for launch on 17 September, and Orbitals, which released on 3 September. These announcements underscore Nintendo’s push to establish a robust software library for its new console hardware.
