Spurs halt Knicks’ unbeaten streak in historic MSG Finals victory
The San Antonio Spurs avoided elimination in the NBA Finals, snapping the New York Knicks’ 46-game unbeaten run and ending their 13-game postseason home winning streak with a victory in front of President Donald Trump.

The San Antonio Spurs delivered a pivotal victory in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, defeating the New York Knicks 115-111 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. The result cuts the Knicks’ series lead to 2-1, preventing San Antonio from falling into a 3-0 deficit—a scenario from which no NBA team has ever recovered. The win also ends the Knicks’ 46-game unbeaten streak across the regular season and playoffs, as well as their 13-game postseason home winning streak.
Victor Wembanyama recorded 32 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in his first NBA Finals win. He contributed 10 points in the final quarter, helping the Spurs build a cushion that withstood a comeback attempt led by New York’s Jalen Brunson, who scored 32 points. Stephon Castle added 23 points for San Antonio, including key late-game shots that secured the victory.
The match was notable for the attendance of President Donald Trump, marking the first time a sitting US president has attended an NBA Finals game. Trump was booed during the national anthem, but the Spurs responded with a strong start, making nine of their first 11 shots to take a double-digit lead early in the contest. San Antonio capitalised on New York’s errors, converting 13 turnovers into 21 points.
New York struggled with key players having limited impact. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 11 points, while Mikal Bridges was hampered by foul trouble. OG Anunoby contributed 28 points for the Knicks, who had previously dominated the Eastern Conference playoffs with large scoring margins. The loss halts their bid to move within one win of their first championship since 1973.
Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night in San Antonio, with Game 5 set for Saturday. The Spurs are now attempting to become the first team to win the NBA Finals after losing the first two games at home. The series shifts to San Antonio, where the Knicks must secure at least one win to remain in contention for the title.
