Spurs force Game 7 with dominant victory over Thunder
Victor Wembanyama’s 28 points and a third-quarter surge secure San Antonio’s place in the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks

The San Antonio Spurs have forced a decisive Game 7 in the NBA Western Conference finals, defeating the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 in Game 6. The victory, secured on home court in San Antonio, levels the series at 3-3 and shifts the momentum to the young Spurs squad, who will now travel to Oklahoma City for the final showdown.
Victor Wembanyama was the central figure in San Antonio’s offensive strategy, recording 28 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. His performance was particularly sharp in the first quarter, where he scored 11 of his game-high points. The Spurs’ perimeter shooting was a defining feature of the contest, with 14 of their 23 first-quarter field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc. Through three quarters, exactly half of San Antonio’s 66 field goal attempts originated from distance.
The turning point of the match occurred in the third quarter, where the Spurs executed a 20-0 run to effectively secure the victory. This surge allowed San Antonio to cruise to a wire-to-wire win, capitalising on a significant slump from Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The back-to-back MVP scored only 15 points on 6-of-18 shooting and was minus-28 in his 28 minutes on the floor.
Supporting Wembanyama, Dylan Harper provided a crucial boost off the bench, scoring 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting in 22 minutes. Harper’s return from a right adductor injury was vital, as he had scored just 18 points total across Games 3 through 5. Conversely, Thunder forward Jalen Williams returned from a hamstring strain but had limited impact, scoring one point in 10 minutes while committing two turnovers.
The winner of this series will advance to the NBA Finals to face the New York Knicks, who are currently on an 11-game winning streak. For the Spurs, a victory would mark their first Finals appearance since 2014. For the Thunder, a win would make them the first team to reach consecutive NBA Finals since the Golden State Warriors achieved five straight titles between 2015 and 2019.
Game 7 is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The Spurs will be looking to replicate their success from last postseason, where they won two Game 7s, while the Thunder aim to leverage their strong home record, having gone 6-1 at the Paycom Center in the 2026 playoffs.
