Orioles vs. Rays prediction, odds, time: 2026 MLB picks for Wednesday, May 20 from proven model
Computer simulations favour Tampa Bay and high-scoring affair on Wednesday

SportsLine’s computer model has released its forecast for the Major League Baseball matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays, scheduled for Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The prediction platform, which utilises computer simulations to generate betting insights, ran the scenario 10,000 times to determine the most likely outcomes for the game at Tropicana Field.

The simulations indicate that the Tampa Bay Rays are the stronger side, listing them as -131 money-line favourites against the Baltimore Orioles. In betting terms, this requires a stake of $131 to win $100. The Rays currently sit at the top of the American League East standings, while the Orioles occupy the last place in the division.

A key component of the model’s analysis focuses on the combined runs total. The algorithm predicts the 'Over' for a total of 8.5 runs, with the simulations projecting a combined score of 9.9 runs. This projection is supported by recent performance trends, noting that the Rays have gone 'Over' in eight consecutive games and that the total has exceeded the line in four of their last five matches against American League opponents.

The pitching matchups present a contrast in recent form. Baltimore will start Shane Baz, who holds a 1-5 record with a 5.26 earned run average. Baz has struggled in his last six starts, posting a 1-3 record and a 5.08 ERA. In contrast, Tampa Bay will rely on Jesse Scholtens, who has a 4-2 record and a 3.06 ERA.

The model enters Week 9 of the MLB season with a 12-1 record on its top-rated picks. Historical data from 2025 shows the platform generated nearly 30 units of profit on home run prop picks. The first pitch for the rubber match is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.
