Fantasy football rankings 2026: Sleepers, breakouts, busts per model that nailed Daniel Jones' big season
Analysis identifies Buccaneers’ Kenneth Gainwell as sleeper and Seahawks’ Sam Darnold as bust

SportsLine has released its 2026 fantasy football rankings, sleepers, breakouts, and busts based on 10,000 simulations of the upcoming NFL season. The release coincides with the availability of the 2026 NFL schedule and the start of Organised Training Activities (OTAs), with training camp less than two months away. The model identifies Buccaneers running back Kenneth Gainwell as a sleeper, Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten as a breakout candidate, and Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold as a bust.

The analysis references the model's previous accuracy in predicting Daniel Jones' 2025 performance, noting that the computer model accurately forecasted the Colts quarterback's potential before his season-ending injury. The firm also cites past successes, including predictions for Jonathan Taylor, Rachaad White, and Isiah Pacheco, as validation for its current projections.

In the sleeper category, the model highlights Buccaneers running back Kenneth Gainwell. Gainwell, who set career highs in Pittsburgh last year, joined Tampa Bay as a free agent. The model suggests he offers more than just backup value, pointing to his receiving skills and the Buccaneers' preference for targeting running backs. This assessment comes despite the presence of Bucky Irving, who struggled with injuries and low yardage per carry in 2025.

Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten is identified as a breakout candidate for the 2026 season. A fourth-round pick in 2025, Tuten impressed in limited opportunities last year, scoring in all four games where he recorded at least nine touches. With Travis Etienne departing for the Saints, Tuten is positioned atop the depth chart in an offense that ranked eighth in rushing attempts last season.

Conversely, the model flags Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold as a bust. Despite his on-field impact as a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, the model notes his low fantasy ceiling due to a run-first offensive scheme and high turnover rates. Darnold led the NFL with 20 turnovers last year and provided minimal rushing production. The model ranks him as the QB20 in its 2026 fantasy football rankings, down from his QB14 finish in 2025.

The rankings are available for both PPR and non-PPR leagues on the SportsLine platform. The firm encourages users to consult its cheat sheets for further strategic guidance ahead of the 2026 draft season.
