Free MLB picks, predictions for Friday, June 12: Dodgers vs. White Sox among expert's best bets
Adam Thompson’s June 12 predictions focus on pitching matchups and bullpen vulnerabilities

SportsLine expert Adam Thompson has released his premier Major League Baseball betting selections for Friday, June 12, covering a full slate of 15 games. The analysis identifies specific value across the schedule, with particular emphasis on the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Thompson recommends backing the Red Sox against the Texas Rangers, a selection grounded in recent pitching performance rather than overall team standing. While the Rangers have won nine of their last 12 games, the Red Sox have struggled offensively, ranking 29th in runs scored and last in home runs. However, Boston’s starting pitcher Sonny Gray has been dominant, posting a 5-0 record with a 2.50 earned run average in his last seven starts.

The recommendation contrasts with the performance of Rangers pitcher Jack Leiter, who holds a 1-3 record with a 5.26 ERA in six road starts. Thompson notes that Leiter has surrendered four runs in three of his last four outings, providing a clear advantage for Boston despite their broader offensive deficiencies.

In the matchup between the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Thompson favours Chicago. The White Sox left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay is 4-0 with a 3.22 ERA in his last seven starts, facing a Dodgers lineup that has managed only a .585 on-base plus slugging percentage against left-handed pitching in the last two weeks.

The White Sox bullpen has also maintained a 2.59 ERA over the same period, a stark contrast to the Dodgers’ bullpen, which has struggled with a 7.36 ERA. Compounding the Dodgers’ challenges is the potential absence of star player Shohei Ohtani, who was hit by a pitch on Thursday and may sit out the game.

Thompson also backs the Tampa Bay Rays against the Los Angeles Angels, citing the dominance of Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan. McClanahan has allowed zero or one run in six of his last eight starts. The Angels have struggled against left-handed pitching, recording a .536 OPS in the last 14 days, while Rays lefty Sam Aldegheri has allowed just three earned runs in four appearances, supporting an Under bet for the game.

The broader slate includes analysis of other key matchups, such as the New York Yankees attempting to extend a four-game winning streak against the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves looking to end a two-game skid against the New York Mets. Thompson, who has recorded over 70 units in profit in MLB over the past two seasons, provides these picks through SportsLine and its associated community channels.
