Smalley leads PGA Championship into final round at Aronimink
Alex Smalley holds a two-shot advantage heading into Sunday’s final round, with 21 players within striking distance at the Aronimink Golf Club.

Alex Smalley enters the final round of the PGA Championship with a two-shot lead, setting up a decisive conclusion at Aronimink Golf Club. The American, who has not previously secured a victory on the PGA Tour, reached 6-under par after birdying the final hole of the third round. Smalley is scheduled to tee off at 2:35 p.m. ET in the final group alongside Matti Schmid.
The leaderboard remains densely packed, with 21 players positioned within four shots of the lead. This includes defending champion Scottie Scheffler, who sits three shots off the pace following a round of 71. Scheffler’s round was marked by putting difficulties, including six missed putts inside 10 feet, though a crucial bogey save on the 18th hole prevented a larger deficit.
Rory McIlroy has surged into contention, moving to 3-under par and three shots behind Smalley. McIlroy’s recovery has been significant, as he began the tournament on Thursday with a four-over 74 that placed him outside the top 100. He posted a 4-under 66 in the third round to revitalise his campaign, joining Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed, and Maverick McNealy in the chase pack at 3-under.
Jon Rahm is among five golfers at 4-under par, adding to the crowded field of contenders. The improved weather conditions on Saturday contributed to lower scores across the board, resulting in a tightly contested race for the Wanamaker Trophy. The final round will be broadcast on ESPN and CBS, with the first groups teeing off at 7:40 a.m. ET.
