Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton has been fined $17,911 for a Week 2 hit on Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange, according to the Yahoo Sports report, which attributes the amount to multiple reports.
The Week 2 fine follows a reported $11,492 fine for a Week 1 late hit on Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson. Singleton was flagged for the hit on Strange and said he expected the fine to be rescinded. The report gives no outcome on any appeal.
Under the NFL rule described by Yahoo Sports, a third designated player health and safety offence in a season triggers an automatic one-game suspension. The listed offences include hits on defenseless players, launching, hip-drop tackles, horse-collar tackles and blindside blocks.
