Simmons penalty extends Tennessee possession after sack celebration
The Texas defender was penalised for simulating urination after sacking Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon. The Volunteers later turned the ball over on downs.
Texas defensive end Colin Simmons was penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct after miming urination following a sack of Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon, Fox Sports reported.
The sack came at Tennessee’s 12-yard line with 5:08 left in the second quarter. Referee Rod Tucker described the infraction as “simulating using the restroom”.
The penalty kept Tennessee’s offence on the field and extended its possession. The Volunteers later turned the ball over on downs without scoring.
Texas led 10–3 at half-time. Fox Sports reported Simmons had two sacks and five combined tackles in the first half.
