Simba SC leads pursuit of Marumo Gallants midfielder Ibrahim Bance
Simba SC has opened preliminary talks with the representatives of Ibrahim Bance, with coach Steve Barker seeking to bolster the midfield ahead of continental competition.

Tanzanian football club Simba SC has initiated discussions with the entourage of Marumo Gallants midfielder Ibrahim Bance regarding a potential transfer. The 25-year-old Burkina Faso international is currently contracted to the South African Betway Premiership side, where he has made 17 appearances across all competitions since joining from Stade d'Abidjan.
Simba coach Steve Barker is leading the recruitment drive to strengthen the squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign. Sources indicate that the Tanzanian club has made direct contact to assess the feasibility of a deal, with Simba emerging as early frontrunners for the player’s signature.
Bance, who can operate as both an anchor man and a central midfielder, scored one goal during his tenure at Marumo Gallants. His involvement has decreased following the dismissal of manager Alexandre Laffite in March, with the midfielder making only two appearances since the coaching change.
Marumo Gallants are currently engaged in a relegation battle within the Betway Premiership, a context that may influence transfer dynamics. The club previously signed Bance from Ivorian champions Stade d'Abidjan, where he worked under Laffite.
While Simba are viewed as the primary suitors, the transfer market for Bance is competitive. Other Betway Premiership clubs, Tunisian side CS Sfaxien, and Algerian club JS Kabylie are also monitoring the situation, though the extent of their interest remains speculative.
Negotiations are in their early stages, and it is not yet confirmed whether a formal offer has been made or if the player has agreed to personal terms. The final outcome of the discussions remains unconfirmed as Simba SC continues to pursue the midfielder.
