Championship boxer and hip-hop stars set for historic fight night at State Farm Arena
Promotional partnership between Salita Promotions, Wynn Records, and Zeus Network aims to redefine venue programming

Championship boxer Claressa Shields is set to headline a historic boxing event at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on August 15, marking the first time a woman has headlined a boxing card at the venue. The event represents a strategic collaboration between boxing promoter Salita Promotions, Atlanta-based Wynn Records, and streaming platform Zeus Network, signalling a shift in how major sporting venues are utilised for cross-sector programming.

Shields, currently the undisputed heavyweight champion, will move down in weight to challenge unified WBC and WBA world champion Kaye Scott. The bout forms the centerpiece of a card that explicitly blends professional championship boxing with crossover influencer bouts and celebrity appearances, reflecting a broader industry trend towards hybrid entertainment products.

The promotional structure of the event leverages significant cultural capital, with hip-hop artists Latto, YG, Sauce Walka, and Diamond The Body accompanying fighters during their walkouts. GRAMMY-nominated Atlanta rapper Latto will walk out with Shields, while YG accompanies undefeated knockout artist Ernesto “Tito” Mercado.

Other featured bouts include boxing contender Atif Oberlton, who will be accompanied by Diamond The Body, and influencer Ray J, who is making his boxing debut and will be walked out by Sauce Walka. The inclusion of non-traditional athletic figures alongside established champions underscores the event’s dual focus on sporting competition and audience engagement.

Ruben Branson, CEO of Wynn Records, described the initiative as an effort to align sports with contemporary cultural trends. “This has always been about creating an event that reflects where sports and culture are today,” Branson said. “Atlanta deserves more than a fight card—it deserves an experience. Bringing together world champions, major recording artists and some of entertainment’s biggest personalities under one roof is exactly the vision behind this partnership.”

Tickets for the August 15 event remain available through Ticketmaster. The event is reported by Yahoo Sports, citing WSB-TV.
