Sesko outlines ideal United striker profile in GIVEMESPORT interview
Benjamin Sesko discusses his 12-goal debut campaign and constructs a composite ideal striker using Manchester United legends.

Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko has concluded his inaugural season in England with a tally of 12 goals across all competitions, following a £66.3 million transfer from RB Leipzig last summer. The Slovenian international’s debut campaign was characterised by a slow start, with only two goals scored before Christmas, before he accelerated his output under manager Michael Carrick.
Sesko scored nine goals in 14 matches during the post-Christmas period, establishing himself as a crucial scoring threat. However, his run was interrupted by an injury sustained against Liverpool, which ruled him out of the final three games of the season. The Slovenian national team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup has provided Sesko with an extended summer break ahead of pre-season preparations.
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, Sesko was asked to construct the ideal Manchester United striker by selecting specific players to embody key attributes. For right-footed ability, he cited Cristiano Ronaldo, while Robin van Persie was chosen to represent left-footed proficiency. The forward also highlighted Ruud van Nistelrooy as the benchmark for finishing, noting the Dutchman’s record of 150 goals in just five seasons at the club.
Continuing the selection process, Sesko pointed to Dimitar Berbatov for his first touch and technical skills, and Wayne Rooney for pace, recognising the Englishman as United’s all-time leading goalscorer. When asked to identify the ideal physical presence, he selected Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his strength.
When prompted to choose the perfect celebration for a United striker, Sesko opted for his own “Air Sesko” routine, which features a distinctive leap. The forward indicated his intention to return early for pre-season to consolidate his place in the first eleven from the start of the next campaign.
