Serie A relegation confirmed for Pisa and Verona as Inter Milan claim 21st title

The 2025-26 Serie A campaign has concluded its title race with Inter Milan securing their 21st Scudetto, yet the championship's most volatile chapter remains the battle against relegation. While the top of the table has been resolved, the lower tiers have witnessed a definitive collapse for Pisa and Hellas Verona, who have been mathematically relegated to Serie B.
Despite historically strong defensive standards in Italian football, the bottom of the table has exhibited significant frailty this season. Pisa and Verona have conceded a combined 120 goals, with Pisa alone allowing 63 and Verona 57. Their offensive output has been equally poor, with both sides scoring fewer than 25 goals in 35 matches, resulting in a win total of less than five games combined by mid-April.
Four teams remain in contention to avoid the drop: Fiorentina, Cremonese, Lecce, and Genoa. Among these, Genoa is currently identified as the most vulnerable side. The club faces a depleted roster and a difficult remaining fixture list that includes challenging matches against Napoli and Como, which pose a significant threat to their survival.
Fiorentina is considered the team that risks the least due to its established history, talent depth, and financial resources. However, the Viola still face a difficult path, including a crucial match against Genoa, and must play at their best to ensure safety. Cremonese, meanwhile, could benefit if rival teams lose points in upcoming fixtures, though they have also conceded 53 goals and scored 27.
Lecce, known as the Grifone, is viewed as better equipped than Pisa and Verona but still faces uncertainty. The club recently faced Fiorentina, Verona, and Pisa in consecutive weeks before a match against Genoa. While they have conceded 47 goals, their ability to secure results in the final stretch will determine their fate.
Cagliari has also been noted as a potential sixth team involved in the relegation fight following a defeat to Inter Milan. As the season moves toward its conclusion, the focus shifts to these remaining clubs, where motivation and the outcome of key fixtures will ultimately decide which teams stay in Serie A.
