Senzatela, 31, has undergone a dramatic transformation in his role and performance this season. After struggling as a starter in previous years, including a 6.65 earned run average (ERA) last season, he has transitioned into one of the most effective relievers in baseball. He currently holds a 1.30 ERA for the 2026 season, a stark contrast to his 5.02 career MLB ERA.
The logic for trading Senzatela is rooted in both financial and competitive strategy. He remains under contract through the 2026 season with a remaining salary of $50.5 million, but he is set to become a free agent after the year concludes.
