Seahawks conduct due diligence on free agent Terrion Arnold amid felony charges
Head coach Mike Macdonald states the club is working through the situation surrounding Arnold’s recent arrest, which includes counts of armed robbery and kidnapping.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold completed a tryout with the team on Sunday, noting that the organisation is conducting due diligence regarding the player’s recent legal troubles. Arnold, who was released by the Detroit Lions in June following his arrest, faces four felony counts of armed robbery and four of kidnapping.
Macdonald indicated that the Seahawks are aware of the circumstances surrounding the visit and are actively working through the situation. Speaking via video from Brian Nemhauser of Hawk Blogger, the coach stated, "We are going to do our diligence. There are a lot of people in Terrion's corner that we respect as to the type of guy he is. We are going to work through that, and I trust our people to make the best decision for us."
The cornerback is scheduled for arraignment this week before proceeding to a workout with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday. Arnold has also previously met with the Houston Texans and has drawn interest from the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets as he navigates the free agency market.
Macdonald emphasised the team’s internal processes and culture during the evaluation. "We also think that this is a great place to come work, too, and that people can be the best version of themselves if given the opportunity," he said, adding that the visit was positive for both parties involved.
Arnold was drafted by the Lions in the first round in 2024. In two seasons with the franchise, he played 24 games with 22 starts, recording 91 tackles, one interception, and 18 pass breakups. The Seahawks have not yet finalised a decision on signing the player as the legal proceedings continue.
