Scheffler, Young and Woodland lead CBS Sports’ 2026 PGA Tour awards
Scottie Scheffler’s consistency, Cameron Young’s breakthrough titles and Gary Woodland’s return to winning form shape a retrospective of the PGA Tour season.
A CBS Sports review of the 2026 PGA Tour season has recognised Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young and Gary Woodland among its leading award subjects, highlighting different measures of performance and resilience across the year.
Scheffler tied for the season lead in PGA Tour wins and finished runner-up five times, including twice in playoffs. The world No. 1 also won two of the three FedExCup playoff events and claimed the FedEx Cup for the second time in three seasons.
Young’s season was defined by victories at The Players Championship and the Cadillac Championship. He also featured prominently on major championship leaderboards and rose from as low as No. 67 in the Official World Golf Rankings to No. 3 entering 2027.
Woodland’s return to winning form was described by CBS Sports as the season’s most emotional and inspirational story. The 2019 US Open champion discussed post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and the mental and emotional effects he associated with brain surgery in 2023.
Three weeks after speaking about those struggles at The Players, Woodland won the Houston Open by five strokes, tying the tournament scoring record. He later finished tied fourth at the BMW Championship and qualified for the Tour Championship.
The season’s major winners included Rory McIlroy, who defended his Masters title, Aaron Rai at the PGA Championship, Wyndham Clark at the US Open and Ryan Fox at The Open at Royal Birkdale. Fox’s victory was reported as his first major title.
