Russell holds off Verstappen to win Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Two Safety Car periods erased George Russell’s lead, but the Mercedes driver beat Max Verstappen by a reported tenth of a second. Kimi Antonelli finished fifth after starting 16th.

George Russell won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for Mercedes, holding off Max Verstappen in a close finish after two Safety Car periods removed an 11-second lead.
The Sky Sports report said Russell had to defend in the closing stages to secure the victory. Verstappen finished second for Red Bull, with team-mate Isack Hadjar third.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli recovered from 16th on the grid to finish fifth. Russell remains 66 points behind his Mercedes team-mate in the standings.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth for Ferrari, while Lewis Hamilton was sixth.
