Rockstar sets $80 price point for Grand Theft Auto 6 as pre-orders approach
The most anticipated title in a decade aligns with current AAA market norms, with physical copies serving merely as download code carriers.

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the pricing structure for Grand Theft Auto VI, setting the Standard Edition at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100. The announcement coincides with the opening of pre-orders for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions on June 25 at midnight. The $80 price point for the base game is consistent with current market norms for AAA titles, addressing speculation that costs might rise further.
The game is scheduled for release on November 19, marking a significant milestone over a decade after the release of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has described the title as the largest game launch in history, a claim supported by a recent job listing. The title, set in Vice City and featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia, has experienced two previous delays before settling on this final release date.
Pre-orders open on June 25 at midnight for both digital and physical versions. However, the distinction between the two is minimal. The physical version contains only a download code inside a box, with no functional difference from the digital copy. Both versions allow players to pre-load the game starting November 12, ensuring immediate access upon launch.
The Ultimate Edition, priced at $100, includes additional digital extras such as weapons, cars, clothing, tattoos, and a dolphin, which are unlocked throughout the story. Rockstar has released screenshots highlighting these features, including the main characters and various outfits, to showcase the detail and atmosphere of the game.
Customers who pre-order or purchase the game before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack. This bonus content includes a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage, '80s-style outfits and hairstyles, and a pastel-hued weapon skin. The release has prompted other developers to schedule their own launches to avoid direct competition with the highly anticipated title.
