Rockies halt skid with ninth-inning rally against Giants
Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman drive in five runs as Colorado overturns a deficit to end a five-game losing streak.

The Colorado Rockies concluded a five-game losing streak on Friday night with an 8-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants in Denver. The win was secured through a five-run ninth inning that overturned a 6-3 deficit, driven by home runs from Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman.
Tovar recorded four runs batted in during the contest, including a solo home run that capped the ninth-inning rally. His fourth homer of the season was hit into left field to end the scoring. Hunter Goodman contributed a three-run shot in the same inning, hitting a slider just inside the foul pole for his 13th home run of the season.
The Giants had established a 4-1 lead earlier in the game, utilising three sacrifice flies and an RBI single. However, the momentum shifted in the eighth when Tovar hit a two-run homer to narrow the gap to one run. The Giants attempted to hold the lead in the ninth, with Rafael Devers recording an RBI triple and scoring on a single, but the effort was insufficient.
Juan Mejia earned the win for Colorado after allowing two runs in the ninth inning. The Rockies’ offensive surge began when Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman led off the frame with singles off Giants reliever Caleb Killian. Willi Castro added a two-out single to keep the rally alive before Tovar’s decisive hit.
San Francisco saw the return of key players from the injured list. Jung Hoo Lee, activated from the 10-day injured list after a mid-back strain, recorded four hits and made two significant defensive plays, including a run-saving catch at the right-field wall in the fourth inning. Pitcher Logan Webb also returned from the injured list, having been sidelined since May 6 with right knee bursitis. Webb allowed one run in 4 1/3 innings.
The Giants have now lost four consecutive games. Looking ahead, Giants right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser is set to start on Saturday. For the Rockies, right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list to make his first start since April 23.
