Rizwan and Imam summoned in Pakistan mobile phone inquiry
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has reportedly issued notices to the two players after the Pakistan Cricket Board took custody of their phones.
Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has reportedly summoned Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq for questioning over information obtained from their mobile phones, according to reports citing Geo News.
The agency is expected to examine data from the phones, which had been taken into custody by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The reason for the seizure and the scope of the NCCIA inquiry have not been disclosed, and no official explanation from either body was included in the reports.
A third Pakistan cricketer has also reportedly received a notice, although the player has not been identified.
Rizwan and Imam were among seven players sent home from England after Pakistan’s 194-run defeat to England at Lord’s. The PCB also changed its coaching staff following the result.
The reported NCCIA inquiry is separate from a PCB investigation into the selection of Rizwan and Imam for Pakistan’s Test tours of the West Indies and England. The available reports do not establish wrongdoing by either player or disclose an outcome from either inquiry.
