Remedy Entertainment releases Control Resonant
Chronologically a sequel to 2019’s Control, the title allows players to enter the universe through a new lens, launching September 24.

Remedy Entertainment has released Control Resonant, a title set within its established supernatural universe. While the game is a chronological sequel to the 2019 release Control, it features a new protagonist, Dylan Faden, and a distinct combat style that allows it to serve as an entry point for new players. The game launches on September 24 for PS5, Xbox, and PC.
Creative director Mikael Kasurinen described the two titles as two sides of the same coin, suggesting they can be played in any order. The narrative explores the franchise from a new perspective, with Dylan Faden stepping into the real world of Manhattan after being held captive in the Oldest House. This shift in setting provides a fish-out-of-water dynamic that mirrors the original game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, who moved from the real world into the paranatural realm.
The game’s structure is designed to accommodate players unfamiliar with the series. Dylan, who has been trained as a weapon and held captive for most of his life, navigates the outside world and explains the finer points of the paranatural to those he encounters. This approach allows the game to convey necessary lore through action rather than extensive exposition, ensuring that new players are not bogged down by prior knowledge requirements.
Combat in Control Resonant emphasises constant movement, melee-focused action, and ability chaining. The gameplay loop involves defeating weaker enemies to build an ability gauge, using those abilities on stronger foes, and managing health drops. This system draws comparisons to Doom from 2016 and titles developed by PlatinumGames, offering a more aggressive and mobile experience than the original Control.
Voice actor Sean Durrie plays Dylan Faden, describing the character as someone who has his abilities but needs to find his strength. During a preview session, the game’s opening act, a later story mission, and an open-ended section featuring combat against enemies known as the Hiss were demonstrated. The experience highlighted the importance of movement and skill tree navigation to survive against the Hiss antagonists.
Control Resonant launches on September 24 for PS5, Xbox, and PC.
