reMarkable's Paper Pure is its new entry-level slate
The Norwegian specialist returns to monochrome roots with a device designed for IT security and workflow integration.

reMarkable has officially launched the Paper Pure, an entry-level 10.3-inch e-ink slate designed to appeal specifically to corporate buyers. Marking a strategic return to the company's monochrome roots, the device sits below the flagship Paper Pro range and succeeds the 2020 reMarkable 2. While the company has recently introduced colour-enabled models, this new release emphasises a focus on serious work, offering a distraction-free environment for writing, reading PDFs, and consuming e-books.

The hardware specifications have been refined to improve upon the previous generation. ReMarkable states the unit is 50% more responsive than the reMarkable 2 and features improved display contrast. Powering the slate is a 3,820mAh battery, which the manufacturer claims provides up to three weeks of life based on one hour of daily use. The device also includes an active stylus and is described as far more repairable than its predecessors.

A key differentiator for the Paper Pure is its conscious design for the corporate market, distinguishing it from earlier consumer-focused iterations. To satisfy IT departments, the slate includes specific security features. Furthermore, it offers calendar integration that automatically creates discrete documents for meeting notes. ReMarkable notes that these software capabilities are expected to filter down to the rest of the product lineup in the future.

Pricing for the new slate begins at $399 for the base model, which includes the standard Marker. An upgraded bundle is available for $449, adding the Marker Plus with a built-in eraser tip and a carrying case. Pre-orders for the device are currently open, with shipping expected to commence in early June.

Regarding the lifecycle of the previous model, production of the reMarkable 2 is being discontinued. However, the company has committed to retaining software updates and support for existing reMarkable 2 customers. ReMarkable, a Norwegian E Ink specialist, has sold over 3.5 million devices to date and holds 1.2 million subscribers for its Connect service.
