reMarkable Returns to Monochrome with Paper Pure Tablet Launch
Priced at $399, the new 10.3-inch device features enhanced hardware, modern software integrations with Slack and Miro, and a planned sunset for the previous generation model.

Norwegian E Ink specialist reMarkable has officially launched the Paper Pure, a new monochrome tablet designed to succeed the reMarkable 2. This release marks a strategic return to the company's roots after it previously explored the colour display market with the Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move series. The device is positioned as a dedicated productivity tool, focusing on the fundamentals of digital note-taking without the distraction of colour screens.
Priced at $399, the Paper Pure features a 10.3-inch display with wider dimensions than its predecessor, which the company states makes it easier to take notes and read text. While the resolution remains unchanged at 1872 x 1404 pixels with a pixel density of 226 PPI, the hardware has seen significant upgrades. The new tablet includes 32GB of storage, representing a fourfold increase compared to the reMarkable 2, and weighs approximately 40 grams less, bringing the total weight to 360g.
Performance metrics have been improved alongside the physical specifications. ReMarkable claims the Paper Pure is 50% more responsive than the reMarkable 2 and offers 30% more battery life, powered by a 3,820 mAh battery. The company reports having sold over 3.5 million devices to date and holds 1.2 million subscribers for its Connect service, which provides unlimited cloud storage and exclusive templates.
To remain competitive in the current market, the device includes modern software features such as web app support, calendar syncing, and automatic conversion of cloud documents into notebook formats. The Paper Pure also integrates with collaboration tools Slack and Miro, allowing users to convert handwritten notes into typed text for sharing or share sketches directly from the device.
Regarding the lifecycle of the previous model, production of the reMarkable 2 will be discontinued. However, the company has committed to retaining software updates and support for existing customers of the reMarkable 2. Pre-orders for the Paper Pure are currently open, with shipping expected to commence in early June. The base model includes a bundled stylus, while a $449 version includes the Marker Plus stylus with an eraser function and a sleeve folio.
