Reelful launches AI tool to automate social media video editing for iOS users
The app converts camera roll assets into polished short-form videos using automated scriptwriting, voice cloning, and editing, joining a competitive wave of AI media tools.
Reelful, a newly launched iOS application developed by former Snapchat machine learning engineer Kate Deyneka, utilises artificial intelligence to automate the creation of short-form social media videos. The app is designed to convert photos and video clips from a user’s camera roll into polished content suitable for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels, targeting founders and business owners who require consistent content output but lack the time for traditional editing workflows.
Deyneka, who previously helped develop video and image models at Snapchat, founded Reelful to address the friction between maintaining an active professional life and producing digital content. The application is currently participating in a16z’s Speedrun programme and joins a growing cohort of AI startups reshaping the media landscape, including competitors such as Opus Clip and Captions. The launch reflects a broader industry shift towards AI agents capable of automating content creation rather than merely assisting with manual creative tasks.
The application functions by allowing users to input a narrative prompt and record a 30-second voice sample to generate a voice clone. Users then select assets from their camera roll, after which the AI plans the video structure, writes the script, generates a voiceover, and assembles the final edit complete with captions, music, and sound effects. The system can also animate still images into short video clips, such as turning a static photo of a person cutting a mango into a moving sequence.
Reelful is positioned specifically for professionals who need to build online presence and personal brands without dedicating hours to editing. Deyneka noted that the tool is ideal for scenarios where users capture footage during events or meetings and wish to have a polished video ready by the time they return home, thereby removing the need for complex laptop-based editing setups.
Generated videos include a watermark to indicate AI creation, and users can refine outputs through a chat-based interface to swap soundtracks or revise scripts. The app is available on iOS with credit bundles and monthly subscriptions ranging from $25 to $100. Android and web versions are planned for future release, though specific timelines have not been disclosed.
