The Red River rivalry returns to Dallas with Texas and Oklahoma in opposite positions to a year ago. Texas is unbeaten and ranked No. 1, while Oklahoma is unranked with two losses.

Yahoo Sports’ Kirk Bohls notes that Texas entered last year’s game unranked with two losses. The shift in records and rankings underscores how quickly the teams’ fortunes can change in the rivalry.

Texas is listed as a 7.5-point favourite. The preview also recalls Texas reaching the College Football Playoff semifinals in 2023 and 2024, and Oklahoma appearing in the playoff last December.

The game is played at the Cotton Bowl, where the series has been held since 1912 and at the State Fair since 1929. Texas leads the series 65–51–5.

The standings set the context, but the rivalry’s history offers little certainty about what the next meeting will bring.
