The berth is Tampa Bay’s first postseason appearance since 2023, when the Rays were swept by the Texas Rangers in the Wild Card Series. The club has not won a postseason game since 2021.
CBS Sports identified Tampa Bay’s run prevention, varied pitching options and Caminero’s power as factors in its prospects. Caminero is the second player in MLB history with multiple 40-home-run seasons through age 22, after Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews.
Tampa Bay has won American League pennants in 2008 and 2020 but has never won the World Series.
