Rangers rally twice to split series with Rays

The Texas Rangers rallied from two four-run deficits to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-6 in Arlington on Sunday, securing a split of their four-game series.
Jake Burger hit two home runs, including a two-run shot during a fourth-inning rally that brought Texas level after Tampa Bay led 5-1. It was Burger’s ninth career multi-home-run game.
With the score tied at 5-all in the fifth, Elias Díaz singled to bring Burger home before Ezequiel Duran’s single scored Logan O’Hoppe. Duran recorded at least three hits for the 12th time this season.
The Rays reduced the deficit to one run in the seventh, but Corey Seager restored Texas’s two-run advantage with a solo home run in the eighth. Jakob Junis then secured his sixth save in seven chances with a perfect ninth.
Trevor Williams, signed by Texas last Tuesday after being released by Washington, pitched two scoreless innings for his first win since May 2025, according to the Associated Press and Yahoo Sports report.
The result moved Texas to 71-73, while Tampa Bay fell to 85-58. The Rays retain the American League’s best record, according to the report, while Texas remains two games behind in the AL West and final wild-card races.
