Rams coach McVay insists external hype will not dictate team approach

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, McVay emphasised that while the NFL attracts significant attention, such predictions do not influence how the team approaches its work.
The Rams are currently viewed as favourites to emerge from the NFC and win the championship, despite not reaching the Super Bowl in the past five years. McVay addressed this disparity between current standing and recent history, noting that outside expectations do not win games. He stated that the team must remain humble, connected, and courageous to navigate the pressures associated with being the league’s most scrutinised team.
McVay highlighted the unique challenges of the NFL as the greatest team sport, characterised by high levels of external scrutiny. He argued that the team cannot control the narrative surrounding them but must focus on internal cohesion. According to McVay, the ability to handle adversity and maintain an "inside out" perspective is critical, regardless of the hype generated by media and betting markets.
The Rams face a demanding schedule that includes seven prime-time games. Matches are scheduled across various days of the week, including Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, multiple Sundays, and Mondays. McVay noted that this variety presents a logistical challenge, requiring the team to adapt their preparation and energy levels frequently throughout the season.
Every week, the Rams will face the best opposition available, with a target on their backs due to their status as favourites. McVay insisted that the team will not allow external chatter to inhibit their performance or courage. He stressed that maintaining the appropriate mindset and enjoying the opportunity to compete together is more important than the predictions made by outsiders.
The head coach reiterated that none of the external accolades or predictions mean anything in terms of on-field results.
