Pulisic returns to USMNT training ahead of Turkey clash
Christian Pulisic rejoins full squad drills in Irvine, though no formal medical clearance has been issued for Thursday’s final group match.

Christian Pulisic has returned to full squad training with the United States Men’s National Team, marking a significant step in his recovery from a calf injury sustained during pre-match preparations. The AC Milan midfielder participated in warm-ups and ball drills during the 15-minute session open to the media in Irvine, California, on Monday.
Pulisic’s return follows his absence from the team’s recent 2-0 victory over Australia in Seattle. He had been restricted to isolated gym workouts, resistance training, and light ball work while the squad prepared for the Australian fixture. His participation in open drills with the wider group signals a shift from his previous isolation.
The midfielder played the first half of the tournament-opening 4-1 victory against Paraguay, where he was instrumental in creating two of the team’s three first-half goals before being substituted due to stiffness. Teammate Alex Zendejas characterised the issue as a “small, little knock,” noting that the squad has focused on keeping Pulisic’s mind off the injury during his recovery.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that the team is managing additional fitness concerns, with midfielder Cristian Roldan missing practice due to a strained muscle. The USMNT remains unbeaten in the tournament but has already secured their place in the knockout stages, rendering the upcoming match against Turkey “meaningless” for group standings.
The United States faces Turkey in their final group stage match on Thursday at SoFi Stadium. While Pulisic’s return to full training is encouraging, the team provided no formal medical update on his specific availability for Thursday’s game. His first potential knockout match is scheduled for July 1 in Santa Clara, California.
