Public vote opens for lohud Baseball Player of the Week award
Three athletes nominated by coaches for standout performances during the week of May 11-17 as the regular season concludes.

Voting for the lohud Baseball Player of the Week award, presented by White Plains Hospital, is now open to the public. The poll will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, with the winner to be announced on lohud sports social media accounts.
The award recognises individual excellence in local high school baseball, with three athletes nominated by coaches for their performances during the week of May 11-17. This period coincides with the conclusion of the regular season and the imminent start of the playoffs.
The nominees include a senior second baseman for the Tigers, who contributed to victories against White Plains and Port Chester. In those games, he recorded six hits in eight at-bats, including two doubles, four walks, eight runs scored, and seven runs batted in.
Also nominated is a senior pitcher who secured two saves against St. Francis Prep. In a separate outing against St. Raymond, where Stepinac lost 2-1, the pitcher recorded a scoreless no-decision over 4 2/3 innings, striking out 10 batters while allowing only one hit.
The third nominee is a right-handed pitcher for Iona Prep who threw a no-hitter against Xavier in the final regular-season game of 2026. He walked one batter and struck out eight during the performance.
Last week’s title was awarded to Hastings senior pitcher Andrew Ciszewski, who threw a perfect game against Rye Neck with 11 strikeouts. He joins a list of previous 2026 winners including Alejandro Pena of Blind Brook, Zach Davidson of Harrison, Sean Concannon of Iona Prep, Drew Wooster of Pearl River, and JP Donahoe of Mamaroneck.
