PSG and Liverpool enter race for Leipzig’s Yan Diomande

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are competing for the signature of 19-year-old Ivory Coast forward Yan Diomande, who currently plays for RB Leipzig. PSG manager Luis Enrique views Diomande as a potential replacement for Bradley Barcola, while Liverpool considers him a long-term alternative to Mohamed Salah. Liverpool previously submitted a €100 million bid, which Leipzig rejected. Diomande recently contributed 13 goals and 10 assists for Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season and is currently participating in the World Cup with his national team.
TyC Sports reports that PSG could provide serious competition to Liverpool, who are currently believed to be leading the race. RB Leipzig have already rejected a €100 million bid from Liverpool for Diomande. Leipzig are reluctant to sanction a move, having signed Diomande from CD Leganes for approximately €20 million last summer.
Diomande’s valuation has surged significantly, reportedly higher than any other player in Europe within the same timeframe, though Leipzig have not named a specific asking price. Diomande is currently participating in the World Cup with Ivory Coast, where he has yet to score but is helping the team qualify for the knockout stages.
Diomande played 36 games for Leipzig last season across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists. In the Bundesliga last term, he created 17 big chances, averaging 1.7 key passes per 90 minutes. Leipzig finished third in the Bundesliga last season.
PSG are the defending Champions League champions, having recently defeated Arsenal 4-3 on penalties in the final. It is unclear if PSG will officially launch a bid or if they are merely monitoring the situation to disrupt Liverpool’s plans. The exact valuation of Diomande remains unspecified by Leipzig, despite reports of a surge in his market value.
It is uncertain whether Bradley Barcola will leave PSG this summer or if Diomande will be signed as a direct replacement. The timeline for any potential transfer is unclear, as negotiations are occurring simultaneously with Diomande’s World Cup participation.
