Spider-Noir final trailer gives us a classic villain
Live-action adaptation stars Nicolas Cage as 1930s private investigator Ben Reilly

Prime Video has released the final trailer for Spider-Noir, a live-action series based on the Marvel Comics noir line that reinterprets familiar characters in an alternate universe set during the Great Depression. The trailer, which features Nicolas Cage reprising his role as Ben Reilly, a hard-boiled private investigator and secret superhero known as The Spider, is set to Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black and emphasises the show’s deadpan humour.

The series, which premiered on MGM+ on 25 May 2026, becomes available on Prime Video on 27 May 2026. Viewers are offered a unique viewing experience, able to choose between a traditional black-and-white presentation or a colour version referred to by showrunners as True Hue. This follows the character’s previous appearances in the animated films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023).

Cage portrays Reilly, a disillusioned former hero in 1930s New York who is attempting to start over after a personal tragedy. The plot is set in motion when Cat Hardy, a nightclub singer played by Li Jun Li, hires Reilly to investigate the disappearance of a friend. The investigation reveals that the missing friend, played by Jack Huston, has transformed into a sand monster, commonly known as the villain Sandman.

The narrative also involves mysterious illnesses affecting the city’s population and the rise of mob boss Silvermane, played by Brendan Gleeson, who has effectively taken control of New York. The supporting cast includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Abraham Popoola, Lukas Haas, Richard Robichaux, and Kai Caster.

Spider-Noir is produced for both MGM+ and Prime Video, continuing the legacy of the noir line established by Marvel Comics in 2009. The final trailer suggests that despite Reilly’s initial resolve to stay out of the fray, the circumstances in the city will likely force him to resurrect his superhero alter ego one last time.
