Prime Video Secures Historic Streaming Deal for Duke University Basketball
In a move that expands its live sports portfolio, Prime Video has announced an agreement to broadcast select non-conference games for the Duke Blue Devils, beginning in November 2026.

Amazon Prime Video has formalised a groundbreaking arrangement to stream three non-conference men's basketball games for Duke University, commencing in November 2026. This agreement represents the first instance in which Amazon has signed a streaming deal with a collegiate team, marking a significant expansion of the platform's live sports capabilities beyond its current slate of MLB, NFL, NBA, WNBA, and NWSL content.
Under the terms of the deal, the streaming service will produce and broadcast three specific high-profile matchups. The first contest is scheduled for Black Friday in November 2026, pitting Duke against UConn at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The rivalry between the two programs carries notable weight, following a dramatic Elite Eight encounter in March of the previous year where a last-minute three-point shot by UConn propelled the Huskies to the Final Four over the Blue Devils.
The second fixture will take place in December 2026 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, featuring a clash between Duke and Michigan. The third game is set for 20 February 2027 in Detroit, where the Blue Devils will face Gonzaga. While the venues and opponents are confirmed, exact start times for the events remain pending future announcement by the university and the broadcaster.
The commercial structure of the agreement involves a strategic trade-off for the Atlantic Coast Conference member. In exchange for granting Prime Video exclusive broadcast rights for these select events, Duke University has agreed to play in certain events owned by ESPN during the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons. This arrangement acknowledges the existing television rights framework between the ACC and ESPN, which typically covers the majority of the team's schedule.
Prime Video's foray into college basketball adds a new dimension to its growing library of live sporting events. The inclusion of these marquee games, which are identified as some of the biggest matchups the team will face throughout the season, underscores the streaming giant's ambition to capture audiences for collegiate sports. The production of all three games will be handled directly by Prime Video, with further logistical details expected to be released in due course.
