Prescott sets Cowboys touchdown record in win over Commanders
Dak Prescott’s 249th touchdown pass moved him past Tony Romo as Dallas’s career leader in passing touchdowns.
Dak Prescott set the Dallas Cowboys’ franchise record for career touchdown passes as Dallas defeated the Washington Commanders 37–20.
The quarterback completed 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. His fourth touchdown, a 24-yard completion to CeeDee Lamb, took his Cowboys total to 249 and surpassed Tony Romo’s previous mark of 248.
The result gave Dallas a decisive response after its unimpressive opening-week loss to the New York Giants. The Cowboys led 37–20 after Prescott’s record-setting pass, which remained the final margin.
Prescott also connected with Lamb for a 35-yard completion that Tom Brady described as an “absolute piss missile”. Fox Sports reported that Prescott was named the LFG Player of the Game.
Prescott said the record was an honour and acknowledged Romo, Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach. He also credited his late mother, Peggy, with helping shape his confidence and resilience.
