Plymouth Argyle Women to give match ticket proceeds to Roxy Thomas
The FA Women’s National League Cup match against Torquay United will be dedicated to the 18-year-old player as she receives treatment for a brain tumour.
Plymouth Argyle Women will donate all ticket proceeds from Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Cup match against Torquay United Women to support Torquay player Roxy Thomas and her family. The match at Home Park will be dedicated to them.
Thomas, 18, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in August and is receiving treatment in Bristol, according to the report. Torquay United said funds would help with travel and accommodation during hospital stays, lost income and medical expenses not covered by the NHS.
A fundraiser for Thomas and her family has raised more than £22,000, the report said. Other contributions include £700 from Marine Academy Plymouth Ladies FC gate receipts and £1,250 from Plymouth Argyle’s men’s squad. Torquay United said 20 per cent of sales of its new women’s home shirt would also go to the family.
Thomas played for Plymouth Argyle before joining Torquay in 2025, where she was named Young Player of the Season. Torquay said its players have worn, and will continue to wear, yellow armbands bearing her number, three.
The clubs said the match was an opportunity for the football community to show support for Thomas and her family. The final amount raised from Sunday’s ticket sales was not specified.
