The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Chicago White Sox 8-6 on Friday night, extending their winning streak to four consecutive games and improving to eight wins in their last 10 contests. The victory was driven by standout offensive performances from Brandon Marsh and Kyle Schwarber, who combined for significant hits that shifted the momentum in Philadelphia’s favour.

Marsh, who leads the National League with a .332 batting average, sparked a five-run second inning with a two-run home run off White Sox starter Anthony Kay. This marked Marsh’s first home run off a left-handed starter since July 2022, when he was playing for the Los Angeles Angels. His power display helped Philadelphia build an early lead that the White Sox struggled to contain throughout the evening.

Kyle Schwarber contributed a career-first four singles in the game, finishing 4 for 5 at the plate. The slugger, who currently leads the majors with 23 home runs, singled in the first, second, seventh, and eighth innings. Schwarber scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Edmundo Sosa, sliding safely under the tag at home plate to take the lead.

Philadelphia added an insurance run in the seventh inning when White Sox reliever Seranthony Dominguez, a former Phillies closer, threw a wild pitch. Additional offensive support came from Adolis García, who homered for a second consecutive game, Alec Bohm, who hit a two-run double, and Trea Turner, who recorded an RBI.

Jonathan Bowlan (2-0) earned the win in relief of Jesús Luzardo, who allowed five runs and six hits over six innings. Jhoan Duran pitched a perfect ninth inning to secure his 15th save in 15 opportunities. The White Sox, who lost for the third time in their last four games, will face Phillies right-handed pitcher Andrew Painter (1-6, 5.74 ERA) on Saturday, after which they will turn to right-handed pitcher Sean Burke (2-3, 3.72 ERA).
