Phillies vs. Twins Field of Dreams MLB picks: Rain in forecast as game returns to Iowa first time in 4 years
Third annual MLB special event returns to Iowa with expanded rosters and no automated strike zone

The Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins are set to face off in the third annual MLB Field of Dreams Game, marking the event’s return to Dyersville, Iowa, for the first time since 2022. The match, scheduled for a 7:30 ET first pitch, will be streamed on Netflix and played in a new permanent ballpark constructed adjacent to the historic movie site. This venue replaces the temporary fields used in previous years, which were dismantled after each event.

Weather forecasts indicate potential disruptions, with a 60 per cent chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms expected. Conditions may include strong gusty winds blowing in from right field at nearly 10 mph. Despite the meteorological uncertainties, the new 8,000-seat stadium features standard big-league dimensions, including 335-foot down-the-line distances and 400 feet to dead centre.

Both clubs are treating the contest with competitive seriousness as they vie for wild-card playoff spots. To accommodate the unique circumstances, including challenging travel logistics to a location without an international airport, both teams have been granted an extra position player on their rosters for this single game. Additionally, the event will not utilise Automated Ball-Strike technology, meaning there will be no challenges to umpire pitch calls.

Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies, while the Twins will rely on Taj Bradley. Nola has allowed an MLB-high 29 home runs this season and carries a 6.23 ERA in home games, though he has been cleared to pitch despite a recent right knee contusion. Bradley, who is 9-4 with a 3.76 ERA, has pitched at least five innings in 11 straight outings and is winless in five decisions largely due to a lack of run support.

The event is expected to draw approximately 25 Hall of Famers, including Steve Carlton, Mike Schmidt, and Rod Carew, who will enter through the cornfield. The Phillies will wear road grey uniforms inspired by their 1939-41 kit, while the Twins will don home uniforms modelled after their 1960s originals. The game serves as the third live MLB event streamed on Netflix this season.
