Parallel Web Systems has announced the closure of a $100 million Series B funding round, valuing the artificial intelligence startup at $2 billion. The investment, which brings the company's total capital raised to $230 million, was led by Sequoia Capital with participation from existing investors including Kleiner Perkins, Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital, Spark Capital, and Terrain Capital.
This capital injection marks a significant acceleration in the company's growth trajectory, occurring just five months after Parallel Web Systems completed its $100 million Series A at a $740 million valuation. The rapid timeline between the two rounds signals strong investor confidence in the firm's ability to scale its infrastructure for the burgeoning AI agent market.
Founded by Parag Agrawal, the former chief executive of Twitter, the company specialises in providing web search and research APIs designed specifically for AI agents. Agrawal's venture follows his departure from the social media platform and a subsequent legal dispute regarding severance pay, which was settled in October 2025 for undisclosed terms.
The platform has already attracted a roster of named enterprise clients, including Clay, Harvey, Notion, and Opendoor. Beyond these specific accounts, the company reports that its suite of tools is currently being utilised by over 100,000 developers worldwide, highlighting the growing demand for dedicated research infrastructure in the sector.
While Parallel Web Systems has confirmed that its customer base extends into the banking and hedge fund sectors, the firm has not disclosed the specific names of these financial institutions. The $2 billion valuation represents a doubling of the company's previous valuation, reflecting the heightened expectations surrounding the utility of AI agents in processing complex web data.
As the startup prepares to deploy these funds, the focus remains on expanding its API capabilities to support the next generation of autonomous software agents.
