Palmeiras have confirmed their progression to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals following a 1-0 victory over Cerro Porteño at La Nueva Olla stadium in Paraguay. The decisive moment of the match arrived in the 40th minute when centre-back Gustavo Gómez rose above the Cerro Porteño defence to head home a corner taken by Arias. Although Cerro Porteño created more chances during the first half, Palmeiras were more efficient in front of goal, securing the lead before the break.
